The article talks
about why gossip isn't a good thing. It says gossip can be boring and make
people feel bad. Even though many things we see and read online seem like news,
they're often just gossip.
First, the author talks about meeting an old friend who only told them rumors about other people. The author didn't care about these rumors and felt like they were wasting time.
Second, the friend thought the author wasn't interested because they worked too much. They then gossiped about someone else who got sick from working too hard, which made the author feel awful.
Finally, the article says that bad news sells better than good news. Scary stories and rumors get more attention than happy things, and it's important to respect people's privacy and not spread gossip.
