My father always wanted to be a historian. He loved reading
history books, keeping up with current events, and gathering information from
different sources. Since there was no internet back then, he had to rely on
books and determination. He was supposed to study history, but his excellent
performance in science and biology accidentally led him to medical school.
His journey to becoming a doctor started with his love for
history. But things took an unexpected turn when he did really well in science
and biology, getting him a spot in medical school. Back then, he didn't realize
this would steer him away from his dream of becoming a historian.
So, he became a doctor, dedicating his life to helping
others and making a big impact on people's health. This wasn't what he planned,
but he found fulfillment in his medical career.
If he hadn't accidentally excelled in science and biology,
he might have stuck to his original plan of studying history. In that case, he
could have become a historian, contributing to our understanding of the past.
Both paths could have been fulfilling, but in different ways—one exploring
history, the other healing the present.
Looking back, the unexpected shift in his plans led to a
rewarding career in medicine. The mistake turned out to be a fortunate twist of
fate, shaping my dad's life in ways he didn't foresee but embraced with
dedication and purpose.
